How to Use #StayAtHome to Maximize Future Fertility Chances

Fertility Covid-19 Stay at Home

The #StayAtHome movement is an incredible, collective effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

But, we have heard from many of you about the disappointment, frustration and anger of having fertility treatments paused, cancelled or delayed.

There are still ways for you to be in control of your fertility journey, even in this chaotic time. If you are looking to use your time at home to get into the best fertility shape possible, here are 4 ways you can continue your journey, even while the world is on pause.

1. Sweat out the feelings

Science shows that moderate exercise several times a week is the “optimal zone” for egg health.

While sweating it out at home isn’t the same as crushing it with your favorite instructor, a number of top studios, instructors and gyms are providing free access to their digital content during this time.

You don’t need to train for an Ironman – a simple combo of cardio with stress-busting workouts like yoga or Pilates most days of the week will help super-charge your journey once we can all get back to it.

2. Eat lots of colors (or finally try that #fertilityfit recipe)

Researchers from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Harvard Medical School found that the following vitamins and nutrients were linked to positive effects on fertility for women trying to become pregnant naturally:

We understand the chaos that may be happening in your life and your family right now. 3. Start Fertility Supplements

Science shows that lifestyle can influence egg quality but most supplements must be taken for approximately 90 days to have an impact at the cellular level.

We know that deciding which supplements for fertility can be an overwhelming experience. Our fertility physicians recommend a prenatal (including methylated folate), DHEA (for women over 40 with low ovarian reserve), CoQ10 (you and your male partner), Vitamin D-3, Vitamin B12 (as cyanocobalamin or methylcobalamin), Zinc, Selenium, Iodine and Omega 3’s. Every patient is different and key nutrients for supplementation may change given your body, your journey and your age.

To be most effective, make sure the fertility supplements you select have been designed by fertility experts especially for fertility use. Recommended formulations and daily values may be different for fertility patients than the general population based on bioavailability and cellular needs during pre-conception and conception.

4. Check your Nutrigenomics

What is nutrigenomics? It’s the scientific study of the interaction of nutrition and genes, especially with regard to the prevention or treatment of disease.

We have all read about #fertilitydiet and there are great resources to get started. But, how do your genes affect your body’s ability to produce and use all those great nutrients in your fertility diet?
